As the worldwide vaccination rate goes up more & more international borders begin to open! We can finally breathe a sigh of relief that travel will return after the pandemic. Travel is a passion for so many and sitting still for the past couple of years has been a real challenge! So here are 15 reasons you need to travel in 2022.

#1 Time Is Precious
Coronavirus could be lingering around for years, but that doesn’t mean we should all sit at home and wait for the virus to be completely gone, our time is too precious for that.
Now that the vaccine, testing facilities, and even rapid tests are more widely available. It’s time to take advantage of the opportunities you have and go for it.
Travel may not be exactly the same as it was prior to the pandemic but it will still give you the same amount of happiness & fulfillment as before. The true core of why you love to travel will never change.
#2 Safe Ways To Travel Do Exist
Over the last couple of years, everyone has gained a lot of knowledge on ways to slow and even prevent the spread. So there are definitely safe ways you can travel in 2022.
Apart from your own personal responsibility (mask, clean hands, social distance, etc.), airlines & hotels have implemented extra health protocols to keep their customers and guests safe while traveling.
Qantas & Jetstar Airways in Australia have introduced additional aircraft cleaning between flights. Hotels are providing staff with additional training, focusing on cleaning and disinfection common used areas. Plus, many food & beverage services (like buffets) have been adjusted.
#3 Traveling Makes You Feel Free
Feeling trapped and restricted over the last couple of years is something many people have struggled with throughout the pandemic. So just to be able to finally jump on a plane and feel freedom is one of the great reasons you need to travel in 2022.
#4 Travel To See Family & Friends
No doubt this has been one of the most challenging aspects of the pandemic, being separated from family and friends. And, in Australia, many people are only a few hours drive from loved ones but due to state border restrictions, they have still been unable to be together.
In 2022 why not travel to see family or all plan a trip to a new destination together. How amazing does a reunion in Fiji sound!
#5 Help The Tourism Industry & Support Local Communities
Covid has been devastating for many industries, especially the tourism industry. Big businesses all the way down to local vendors have lost income and many people didn’t have access to government welfare.
Another one of the reasons you need to travel in 2022 is to help the local communities in the countries we have always loved so dearly.
When you’re able to return to areas of the world like South-East Asia, make sure you support locals, book your tours direct, and shop at the local markets.
#6 International Food
Nothing can beat eating Pad Thai in Thailand, Dal Bhat in Nepal, or Pizza in Italy. Many people say that experiencing the local cuisine is something they get most excited about when traveling.
After pretty much two years at home, eating your way around a new country is definitely something you should be looking forward to.
#7 Culture & Language
It’s crazy to think that for close to two years I have rarely heard another language being spoken other than English!
So another one of the reasons you need to travel in 2022 is to experience a new culture and perhaps even learn a new language.
It will also be very interesting to have conversations with people from different walks of life and learn about how they’ve dealt with the pandemic.
#8 Cheap Prices
While demand is low prices are cheap!! I have been looking at accommodation in Thailand and right now you can get 5-star resorts for under $20 a night, that’s crazy!
From what I have researched, flights, tours, and accommodation are also cheap. It’s a great time to take advantage of cheap travel and enjoy incredible places around the world without the crowds.
#9 You Can Book Risk Free
The tourism industry obviously misses us dearly and understands how people can be hesitant to travel in the near future. But the good news is most companies will offer free cancelation, free move, or refund for credits if the unforeseen happens.
#10 There’s a Lot of Availability
With low tourist numbers in many destinations around the world, there is generally plenty of availability. When you plan an overseas holiday it’s not necessary to book far in advance.
So it’s a good idea to do your initial research and have a rough plan of where you want to stay. And, then book everything closer to your departure date. It’s also much less stressful this way!
#11 Unexpected Holiday Destinations
I’m sure many of you have a bucket list of all the destinations around the world you want to visit. But while planning an overseas holiday in 2022 you will be limited to countries that are open, and you’ll need to consider what travel restrictions are in place, and whether or not there’re airlines flying there.
But this is exciting because you may come across a destination you wouldn’t have thought of before! Countries that weren’t on your list but maybe should have been. 2022 could be your year of amazing new opportunities.
#12 Brighten Up Your Instagram Feed
Are you tired of posting throwbacks or creative photos you took at home? Then start planning an overseas holiday and get some fresh new content. Plus, another one of the reasons you need to travel in 2022 is that during your travels you’ll gain personal experiences & knowledge about traveling post-covid. And, then be able to share this advice with friends, family & followers.
#13 Relax, Recharge & Turn Off The News
Everybody needs a bit of R & R and many would agree that lockdowns haven’t exactly been relaxing. Plus watching the news has definitely caused a lot of people to feel stressed.
One of the biggest reasons why people travel is to relax, recharge, and escape their day-to-day life.
And, even with the extra planning and organizing that will go into travel post-covid. Once you’ve arrived travel in 2022 will still be extremely relaxing and beneficial to your mental health.
Studies have shown that people who travel return home with an improved outlook on life.
#14 You’ll Appreciate Your Time [even more than you did before]
Unfortunately sometimes in life when things come easy we kind of take them for granted.
And travel had become that easy. Many people would agree that in 2019 the thought of travel being taken away from you was absolutely insane.
So when you travel in 2022, you will appreciate every moment, savor the freedom, sights, and interactions with strangers from another culture.
Appreciate life and how precious each trip is, no matter how long you’re away.
And, a little bonus reason to travel in 2022 that will be relative to some!

There are countless people from all over the world who’ve had their wedding plans severely disrupted due to coronavirus restrictions.
As this pandemic keeps going on and on, couples have been rescheduling their weddings multiple times and this would be so stressful.
So if the pandemic is making this all too hard, let’s not forget why you’re getting married! Because you’re in love & want to spend a lifetime together.
Maybe eloping overseas is the way to go, it will take out the stress and you could become husband & wife on a tropical island somewhere.
Plus you’ll save money and can have your honeymoon at the same time.
The biggest thing you’ll need when traveling in 2022 is flexibility. Unfortunately, things will continue to change so it’s important to be flexible with some details on your trip and ensure you book flights and accommodation that give you the option to change or receive a refund if something goes wrong. But as mentioned above most companies are offering this.
Also, before you plan a trip and even during the few days leading up to your departure, it’s important to ensure you’re up to date with the latest government advice.
And, one of the biggest requirements for travel in 2022 is travel insurance that includes cover for Coronavirus. A lot of countries won’t even let you in without travel insurance.

Traveling in 2022 mainly comes down to risk vs reward.
Traveling anytime during covid definitely comes with risk. Tests could come back positive, what if borders suddenly close or flights are canceled.
But think about the reward… The culture, the smells, taste, sounds, and the freedom. Everything that is amazing about travel is still out there.
And of course time! Our time won’t come back, you live once and I know for me personally I can’t just wait around forever.
Wasting time is also a risk, nobody knows how much time they have left… live it now. Because today is guaranteed and the future is not.

Loved this! I have missed travel so much during the pandemic. I actually have quite a lot planned for 2022 but who knows what will go ahead. We certainly plan to travel in 2022 although it would be difficult at this time to actually tell you where. We managed to travel safely a fair amount in the past two years despite restrictions. As older people, our time definitely is precious and we want to travel now that we have the time and money to do it. We have got lucky with quite empty travel this year so are sure 2022 would be similar. We hope to be able to balance the risk and reward and head out when we can.
