New South Wales is home to the most populated city in Australia, Sydney. And, although Sydney is particularly beautiful, there are also so many other reasons to travel around New South Wales. Facts About New South Wales
New South Wales only has one international airport in the whole state, Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. But from SYD you can connect to multiple cities across NSW and Australia.
NSW has a coastline that stretches 2,137Km and there are over 892 beaches in the state.
There are 870 National parks in New South Wales to explore. And, heaps are along the coast with the most amazing secluded beaches.
6 UNESCO World Heritage sites are in New South Wales, and they are;
- Sydney Opera House.
- Greater Blue Mountains.
- Willandra Lakes Region.
- Gondwana Rainforests of Australia.
- Australian Convict Sites.
- Lord Howe Island Group.
The town of Byron Bay which is only 45 minutes from the Queensland border, is where you’ll find the most easterly point in Australia.

Getting Around New South Wales
As I mentioned above there is one international airport in New South Wales which is Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD). And, from the city to the airport there are public transport options on trains and buses.
Then the other main airport in NSW is Newcastle (NTL), this is a domestic airport and has regular connections to Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne & Canberra.
New South Wales also has a large interstate train and bus network. Check out the Transport NSW website for timetables and ticket prices.
